This incident is 20 Years old. It’s about Richa ( Name Changed). Back then, I was leading the East Delhi branch of one of India’s oldest beauty parlor chains.

Richha was confident but quietly anxious about her appearance. Working in a competitive industry ( she was an HR Manager), she often felt the subtle pressure to look flawless, especially when mingling with colleagues in Delhi’s office. She was social and ambitious, trying to keep up with the fast-paced world around her.

Richa’s friends were glamorous, well-connected, and fiercely image-conscious. Her close friend, Neha, was the first in their circle to experiment with cosmetic enhancements. Neha’s glowing skin and perfect features didn’t go unnoticed, and Meera quietly started to consider whether it was time for her to take the plunge.

Richa had long, dark hair that she always kept impeccably styled, reflecting the care she put into her appearance. Her skin was naturally clear, but the slight injections enhanced her youthful glow, making her look effortlessly radiant.

The Ultimate Cost of Beauty: Richa's Cautionary Tale After 20 Years of Injectables

Richa was once renowned for her youthful glow and flawless complexion, having boldly started cosmetic injectables in her late twenties. At the time, it seemed like the perfect solution to preserve her beauty and confidence. But little did she know, this decision would plunge her into a nightmare.

Today, after two decades of consistent injectable use, her face has transformed in ways she never anticipated—bloated, distorted, and unrecognizable even to herself. Her quest to maintain beauty had turned into a relentless cycle of corrections and treatments, each one making things progressively worse.

As the years passed, Richa’s face became a haunting reminder of the dangers of cosmetic overuse. Her once smooth skin now carried the weight of her decisions, and she found herself in a seemingly hopeless situation. Every attempt to reverse the effects led to further complications, and the person she saw in the mirror felt more distant with each passing year.

It was in this darkest moment, when everything seemed beyond repair, that Richa finally realized no external treatment could fix what had gone wrong. She sought new ways to heal—not through needles, but by embracing Ayurveda and holistic healing for her whole body.

Richa’s story is one of resilience, a hard-earned lesson that beauty isn’t found in injectables but in self-acceptance. Her powerful message to others is clear: true beauty comes from within, and no amount of treatment can replace self-love.

What are the negative effects of consistent exposure to injectables on the face?

Prolonged and consistent use of injectables for facial beauty, such as Botox or dermal fillers, can lead to several potential negative side effects over time. Here are some of the common concerns:

Muscle Atrophy: Botox works by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles to reduce wrinkles. With repeated injections, the muscles can become weaker or atrophied, leading to a less natural appearance or a “frozen” face, where facial expressions become limited.

Overfilled Appearance (“Pillow Face”): Excessive or inappropriate use of dermal fillers can lead to an overfilled or puffy look, often referred to as a “pillow face.” This occurs when too much filler is injected, creating an unnatural fullness or distortion of facial features.

Scar Tissue Formation: Over time, the repeated insertion of needles can lead to the formation of scar tissue or nodules beneath the skin, affecting the smoothness and texture of the face.

Tissue Damage: Long-term use of fillers, particularly in the same areas, can damage the underlying tissues, leading to irregularities in facial contour or sagging as the skin loses its elasticity.

Injectables have a diminishing effect on skin appearance over time. The difference between the results of your first injectable treatment and the 20th is noticeable. As you continue to use injectables, you’ll find that the improvement they bring to your skin’s beauty gradually lessens, making each subsequent treatment less impactful than the last.

This creates addiction to Injectables.

The effect lasts about three to four months, and then it’s lost. This becomes a continuous cycle. People keep getting it done repeatedly, and now they have become dependent on it. Their skin reflects this dependency.

It is not that we don’t suggest injectables. However, we recommend using them before significant events such as weddings, important parties, or award ceremonies.

It’s important to strike a balance between short-term improvements and long-term skin beauty enhancement, ensuring you feel reassured and guided in your choices.

Your face is not independent. It is linked to your gut, your energy levels, and your body.

Unfortunately, if you want to look beautiful, wherever you go, people will only work on your face.

This is why, after working for 20 years in renowned Beauty Chains, I decided to start Gandharva Wellness Center.

If you want to look attractive, it’s a holistic approach you need to adopt.

You need to work on your gut health, and your entire body needs to be relaxed. With Ayurveda, we will work on your gut health. We will start you on a one-month detox program. Our treatments use machine formulations like ultra cavitation.

What happens in that machine?

The machine works to mobilize and activate certain parts of your system.

We’ll begin you on that program in one month, followed by Ayurvedic potli massage and Abhyanga therapy.

This program will take you on a journey that ensures life long.

Maintaining your Vitamin D and B12 levels at around 60% can effectively resolve the issue, especially if your gut health is in check. Once you start incorporating these nutrients, the glow from Vitamin D alone should become noticeable. As for Vitamin D supplements, my personal favorite is Doctor’s Best, an American brand.

Today, Richa follows Ayurvedic treatments gut cleansing methods, and ensures proper deep sleep to rejuvenate her skin. She is steadily overcoming her skin issues and has even brought her husband along to our wellness center to embrace the healing journey together.
